What is Stephen Ministry?

Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus' command to love one another.  Through one-to-one caring relationships, those who are hurting receive the love and care they need to support them. 

• Is life more than you can handle alone right now?

• Is your health, your attitude, or your relationship suffering?

• Are you adjusting to a new job, change in marital status, a serious illness, the death of a loved one, a recent move?

• Would you like to have someone in your life who really cares?

A Stephen Minister is ...

 ... a child of God who walks beside a hurting person

    ... a caring Christian friend who really listens

        ... a lay person who has received specific training in how to provide

                    distinctively Christian care

A Stephen Minister is not ...

 ... a counselor or therapist

     ... a problem-solver

          ... a casual visitor

Consider allowing a Stephen Minister to walk with you on your journey to wholeness.

CONSIDER BECOMING A STEPHEN MINISTER!

Orchard’s Stephen Ministry program is looking to begin training a new class of Stephen Ministers this coming year. Would you please take a moment from your day and carefully pray and talk with God about your gifts and this magnificent possibility. You DO have gifts to share with others.

When I first became involved with Stephen Ministry, I was overwhelmed with the magnitude of the program and doubted that I was capable of getting it started. Well, God certainly had plans for me! My first lesson was that God was going to be with me all the way. He was not going to let me fall.

Our Stephen Ministry has been offering caring relationships for eight years now. The training itself has taught me invaluable resources for relating to others, family and to myself. The ministers I have helped train have become footprints on my life - a part of who I am. My caring relationships have given me so much more than any thing I even hoped I could offer them. God has truly blessed me with all these gifts. I am not the same having experienced life through God and Stephen Ministry.

My wish is for these gifts to be yours too!
