M & M's at Orchard

Mission Opportunities, local and world-wide ...

... are an important part of Ministry at Orchard

... There are a wide variety of opportunities for YOU to participate in Orchard's mission projects.   These include supporting a project and volunteering to help with a project.  You may choose just one option, or several, as time and energy allow.  If you are unsure of where you might be able to contribute, join one of our Spiritual Gifts Classes to help discover YOUR special ministerial purpose.

Some easy, ongoing ways to support missions are:

loose change Benefits a wide variety of missions:  Each month our Sunday loose change offering is designated for a different charity.  Charities include:

Baldwin Soup Kitchen:  VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Each month a group of volunteers from Orchard Church serve lunch at the Baldwin Family Center in Pontiac.  They meet at the church at 9:00 a.m. and carpool to the Center.  Because a number of our regular volunteers go south for the winter, we especially need people during the winter and early spring months.  Just sign up on the Missions bulletin board in the Education Hallway.  For more information, call the church office at (248)626-3620.                              TOP

Recycle your ink-jet printer cartridges and old cell phones.    Help decorate the Children's Education Wing with murals by recycling your ink-jet cartridges and old cell phones. Instead of tossing your used ink-jet cartridge and dead cell phones, please save your empties from home and/or work and bring them to church. There is a deposit box in the Education Wing hallway designated for these cartridges and phones.

Tabs from Juice & Pop Cans benefit Ronald McDonald Houses

Product Labels (Campbell's, Pepperidge Farm, Swanson& Vlasic) benefit Red Bird Missions education programs

UMCOR - United Methodist Committee on Relief

UMCOR is at work throughout the Gulf Coast region from Texas to Alabama assisting in hurricane recovery from two major storms. Hurricanes Rita and Katrina caused extensive damage in several states.  UMCOR is there, responding to the needs of the thousands of people affected by this disaster. UMCOR will continue to provide assistance to the people left most vulnerable by this storm for years to come.

You can give to UMCOR’s relief and recovery efforts for either storm.  Please designate how you would like your gift to be used by selecting the hurricane you would like to give to on the drop down box.  As always, 100% of your donation will be used for hurricane recovery.  Give On-Line

All donations of money for these items may be made to Orchard United Methodist Church; please make the notation of "Hurricane ....." on both the memo line of the check AND on the outside of the envelope.
