There's lots happening at Orchard -
Come join the journey
Between Sundays
Are you ready for
summer?
Memorial Day is almost here
and for some of us, it marks the beginning of the summer
season. June, July, and August! Just saying the words almost
makes you smile. :)
Are you ready for summer?
Those lazy, crazy days will
be filled with great adventures for each of us, and perhaps more
opportunities for growth than we would like. One of those
opportunities is called ROAD CONSTRUCTION! As you may have
been reading in the paper, orange cones and barricades will be
up on Farmington Road beginning in mid-June. Dave Prueter, our
Trustee representative, is working closely with the city to
understand the impact this construction will have on Orchard
Church. Here are a few highlights from Dave’s report to
the trustees:
14 Mile Road from
Orchard Lake to Drake:
Work will start May 15
and be completed by August 15. From Farmington to Orchard Lake
Road, a third lane will be added so when finished, there will be
one lane each way with a center-turn lane. Two lanes will be
kept open at all times.
Farmington Road
from 13 Mile to 14 Mile Roads:
The first phase, to
start June 15 and finish around the end of July, will be from 13
Mile Road to just south of the church. Farmington Road in
that area will be closed to all traffic. Beginning June 15,
please come to Orchard from the north, utilizing 14 Mile Road
and then proceed south on Farmington Road.
When the first phase is
completed, Phase 2, which will extend north of the church, will
begin. Phase 2 will again alter how people will be able to drive
to Orchard. We will share additional information that will
affect your access to our building as construction proceeds.
Please check the bulletin, Harvester, and our website (orchardumc.org),
starting in June for updates.
Are you ready for
summer?
Road construction is always
dusty, irritating, time-consuming and inconvenient, but it will
not close Orchard! The unique and dynamic ministry that God has
entrusted to us is far more important than a little
inconvenience. Consider getting to church an adventure! We
will worship, study and play together this summer as usual.
And God will bless us as we make a little extra effort to be
faithful. Join us… it will be quite an adventure!
Blessings,
Rev. Carol
