Ministry
of Music At Orchard
Music
at Orchard tunes our hearts, opening us to the
Word and the Grace of God. Through congregational singing,
anthems, major choral works, contemporary song & stirring
instrumentals, the Ministry of Music seeks to connect
people to God, to each other and to the best parts of
themselves. Steeped in tradition, yet remaining fresh with
today's newest songs, this vibrant ministry provides ample and
varied opportunities to make those connections, for musicians of
all backgrounds and abilities.
Chancel Choir
- provides a wide range of quality music during worship.
Anthems, gospel and spiritual arrangements, contemporary
settings and the traditional works of Bach & Mozart are just a
few of the musical offerings regularly prepared & presented by
this dedicated and talented group. The annual
Christmastime choral/orchestral presentation is one of the most
beloved and highly anticipated events of the church year.
The fellowship and prayer enjoyed by its members both during and
after rehearsals and services makes it as much a social outlet
as it is musical. Membership is open to all, aged 16 and
above.
Average Methodist Band (AMB) -
boasting driving instrumentals and
tight vocal harmonies, the AMB provides praise & worship music
of a more modern nature. This group leads worship
approximately once per month, providing a change of pace for
those whose preference is for a more contemporary worship
experience. The dynamic leadership of this group is an
outward sign of their genuine faith in Christ. The
congregation responds with great energy & joy when invited to
join their voices with the band.
Children & Youth -
The voices of children remind us
of the innocence of youth and the true presence of God in our
world. Members of the SonLight
and Promise Choirs (K-4), as well as
Rhythm 56 (5-6), experience the satisfaction of learning new
songs, the building of self-esteem, the opportunity to socialize
with their peers, perform both solo and in group
ensembles, and enjoy the bi-annual combined efforts with the
Chancel Choir. There may be no better way for children to
say "I love God" than with a song! The
Faith Players, part of the
Youth Program, is an
integrated ministry of vocal and instrumental music, blended
with elements of drama and dance. It is through these
artistic disciplines we enable our teens to explore and express
their faith in God. Rehearsals are followed immediately by
fellowship, laughter, and prayer.
Young Adults -
A vocal ensemble of Young Adults
called Soul Purpose
who meet periodically to express their faith through songs
that evidence the joy in the Lord in their lives.
Hand bells -
Come and ring in a multi-generational hand bell choir. No
experience? Some experience? Lots of experience? That's perfect!
All ages and abilities invited to share in ringing out praises
to God. Ability to read music is required.
