Confirmation

the journey to becoming

a member of the church

Confirmation is for ALL 7th & 8th Graders  (beginning September 2019)

Confirmation in the Methodist Church is the time when students of a responsible age (7th and 8th grades) enter a time of study and preparation to make a declaration before their church family that they wish to join the church and become a member in their own right. It is a continuation of the journey that begins with baptism.

Beginning in September 2019, we will be offering a comprehensive Confirmation program that will explore and express faith through discovery and mission. Mailings will go out to all 7th and 8th graders and their parents closer to that time with details. Classes will begin on a Sunday at the end of September.

This time of exploration for the "Confirmands" typically include a couple weekend retreats to learn more about what it means to be a United Methodist. The students will also engage in church and community service to round out their experience.  All students will be encouraged to engage in prayerful thought and consideration about whether they are ready for the commitment they will be making.

In the spring – usually a Sunday in May or June – these students will stand before the congregation as a class to declare their faith and receive the blessing into full membership.

All 7th and 8th graders who are considering this journey toward membership are encouraged to enter this time of study and preparation, and to use that time to discern, together with their parents, whether they are ready to accept this amazing gift and its responsibilities.
