Rev. Nicholas Bonsky
Nick was appointed as Associate Pastor to Orchard as of July 1, 2019. Prior to his appointment, Nick was involved in the youth leadership of Orchard United Church since 2006, serving first as Middle School Leader, then High School Leader. Among his many duties as Associate Pastor, Nick will be overseeing the Youth Ministry, leading both the senior and junior high youth, as well as leading the Men's Ministry. He is married to Lesley Bonsky, and has one child, Elijah. In his free time, Pastor Nick is an avid music listener, collecting vinyl records, and attending concerts.
Director of Music Ministries
Jantz Black joined the Orchard ministry team as full-time Director of Music in July 2019. He has a degree in piano performance, with experience in piano, organ, handbells, praise band, conducting, and composition. Jantz has a wide interest in all kinds of music and worship styles. His dream for Orchard’s music ministries is to engage as many people in as many musical ways as possible. He also has two great kids, Christopher and Maelyn.
Director of Communications/Worship Production
Linda started at Orchard in 2001 when she answered an ad for a youth choir director. From there she has served as the junior high leader; youth director; Club 56 program developer and leader; and church administrator.
As the church put together a 5 Year Blueprint for Ministry, roles have been redefined and she now serves as Director of Communications (multimedia, special publications, graphics art/design) and Worship Producer, the favorite part of her job - and her passion - as she helps people to experience God in worship.
Oh, and she sings with the band, man! She's married to Randy. They have three daughters and 8 grandchildren.
Finance and Operations Manager
Kristen Tesauro, a member at Orchard for many years, graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in Business and Psychology, but her passion has always been music. She has been performing since she was very young and has been in several shows from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to Oliver to Annie to Sound of Music to A Christmas Carol to Into the Woods.
With the Five Year Blueprint for Ministry at Orchard, roles were redefined and Kristen has stepped into the role of Finance (Accounts Receivable) and Operations Manager. Kristen will continue to coordinate VBS and several events throughout the year for the church family.
She is married to her amazing husband, Mike. Together they have a spunky daughter, Emma Grace, and a cute-as-a-button son, Joseph. Orchard has always been a second home to them and they love being part of all the growth and excitement.
Hospitality and Connections Coordinator
Maddy Jenkins is our Hospitality and Connections Coordinator. Maddy’s background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality, working in various positions at a major hotel chain, has been at Orchard for over 17 years, has served in leadership with the youth group, has helped create the 5 Year Orchard Blueprint, serves on the missions commission, and is a member of the leadership team. She also coordinates the annual pumpkin patch fundraiser for missions and she sings with the chancel choir and the praise band.
Maddy's responsibilities include managing the church reservations and check-ins, coordinating Sunday morning volunteers, first contact with visitors, hospitality, keeping up-to-date records on members, finding a spot for your gifts and talents—a place to help serve, a study to join, a group to attend with common interests or discovering a new passion.
Director of Children's Ministries
Colleen is thrilled to be a part of our children’s ministry program at OUMC. She comes to us with a dual degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and many years of experience in her own classrooms. Colleen met her husband Tim at Michigan State and they have three boys, Rian, Declan, and Eagan. She is passionate about helping the children of Orchard discover their own faith and use their gifts from God to do mission work in the community.
Coordinator of Early Childhood Education
Tracey has spent most of her life caring for and/or teaching children — first, as the oldest of four siblings, then as babysitter, daycare worker, and finally teacher and mother. She holds a masters degree in teaching from the University of Virginia and BA from Wayne State University and likes to think she's earned another degree with all the parenting and child development books she's read ;). She taught 7 years in Metro Detroit public high schools before transitioning to staying home to teach her children and tutor others. She is happily married to Chris and is the homeschooling Mom to Jonas, Tobias, and Mattias. Tracey is passionate about teaching children how much they are loved by God, how big His grace is towards them, and how important and capable they are.
Club 456 Leader
Kelly is our Club 456 (our 4th, 5th, and 6th grade ministry) leader. She has been active with our kids and youth for several years, helping out in VBS and our mid-week program by doing all things sports and games. Kelly has a passion for missions and is currently chairing our Missions Team. She is married and has three children.
Dr. Tom is a clinical psychologist during the week and our organist on Sundays and for special services. Tom started piano lessons at age 4 and, as he says, “The rest is history!” His day job of being a “shrink” has him working with police officers, firefighters, pilots, and athletes, but that doesn’t outshine his love of being organist at Orchard. Some of the top joys in his life are assisting in praise and worship, being a musical blessing to others, and especially playing on one of the largest instruments in the state.
Tom has given concerts in such far-flung venues as the National Cathedral in Washington D.C., Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, and St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Honolulu. He has been on Orchard's staff since 2000, and he adds that every year he has spent at Orchard has helped him grow in his love for the Lord and the ministry of this grace-filled congregation.
Minjung joined Orchard's staff in 2018 as accompanist for the Chancel Choir. She is married and has three adorable children.
Sue manages all our facility setup and teardown needs. She's willing to help anywhere and everywhere there's a church event and a need to make the space ready. She also assists in the Media Booth helping to bring live streamed worship services to our congregation outside the sanctuary walls.
